The Beauty of a Sunset!

Hi it's Lyn again, here to day with a super fun & oh so beautiful project for you. First let me tell you a little about my inspiration...I dream of warm Summer nights...lol. I'm not a big fan of Winter but I can at least dream of Summer Sunsets.

First of all I made a mold with Amazing Mold Rubber of a couple of small flat glass stones & then filled it with Amazing Clear Cast Resin & let it cure overnight.
After I removed the resin pieces from the mold I used an Alcohol Marker & drew an image on the back side of the resin.Be aware the your image will be reversed so draw accordingly. Be sure to let this part dry completely before proceeding.
I added a bit of color with the Alcohol Markers, careful to avoid the black outline. Let this layer dry. Then add a coat of clear sealer to the image side, careful to use as few strokes as you can so as not to smear the image.
Ahhhh now we're starting to feel the warmth! At this point I was inspired by some vintage artwork hanging in my home. Foil Etched Artwork which is something you should really see in person to get the full effect. So I decided to add some Gold Metallic leaf to the back side with another layer of sealer as a glue. Since the Alcohol Markers are transparent it allows the foil to show through to the front side of the resin.

It's really pretty at this point but the metallic leafing on the back will need to either be sealed or...make a bezel out of polymer clay(my specialty...lol). I chose a large tree to complete the look & feel of a Warm Texas Summer Sunset.
So What's Your Favorite Season?

I want to thank you all once again for joining me here today...Till Next Time!

  1. I've been watching your You Tube videos for a while now but just noticed the link to this blog today for some reason. I'm in love with this idea! The image of a tree silhouetted against a sunset has been one of my favorites since childhood and seems to have special meaning to me now as a yogi. I made several of your dragon eye pendants but made them into bracelets for Christmas presents for my daughters friends. I still have to make a post about them on my blog (which I've ignored for too long) soon! Love your stuff...wish I had a dedicated place to work...oh yea, and time!

  2. Lol...thanks Nadine! I was blown away by this process since it really fit in with my painting/drawing background. Although they weren't that well received by community(I haven't sold a one...lol)I love them. The dragons on the other hand I've sold almost every one...lol. Thanks so much Hon!
