Assemblage Lamp recycled altered art tutorial

I had so much fun creating this piece! I used DecoArt products & some recycled upcycled goodies that would have ended up in the trash so I felt good about that. I used a salsa jar, a burned out lightbulb & a metal base from something my husband de-constructed in his scrapping (metal scrapping...lol) time.
All this fun in one project!
I started with the jar...I used some brown paper from a grocery bag & stamped onto it using some Memento ink then I distressed it with some Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays. Then I used some DecoPage to adhere the paper to the jar. I stippled some DecoArt Media Black Gesso to the lid of the jar & the base & then rubbed it with DecoArt Metallic Luster in several colors. I then made a "socket" from polymer clay for my bulb to set in(this has a battery operated light in it) & I also poured some resin wings. For the final touch I added the paper butterflies which I also made from some printed images.

Feel free to follow along with the tutorial. Here it is all lite-up! I love the way it turned out!
Thank you so much for joining me today & stay tuned because I have loads more to share over the upcoming weeks...Till Next Time!

With a Bit of Luck! Amazing Casting Products DT Project for March

Hi everyone, Lyn here again with a fun & easy project just in time for St. Patrick's Day. A perfect table decoration or you can hang it on the wall. Just a garage sale frame, a few bit of table scatter & a couple of Amazing Casting Resin embellishments & your ready to go!

First I made a mold of a plastic coin with Amazing Mold Putty & then filled it with Amazing Casting Resin with a bit of Alumilite Dye in black.

I then started with some left over tissue paper(from Christmas...lol), I sprinkled a bit of alcohol for the dots. Then I stamped & embossed it with some gold embossing powder.
Now for the good part...First off I did this on aluminum foil not only to protect my table but also to give the piece another layer of Sparkle...I love Sparkle! Then to the tissue paper I drizzled some Amazing Clear Cast, added some of the Table Scatter, Glitter & then topped it with the picture frame glass & let it cure.

What a great way to display your favorite piece of St. Patty's Day jewelry!

What type of Party Decorations can you create with Amazing Casting Products? Give it a Try!

Altering a Thrift Store Frame

Hi all Lyn Gill here again for a DIY Altered Framed Owl. I bought this frame at the thrift store & it was a worn, scratched yellow color, & very unattractive. Just using some Amazing Casting Resin, black Gesso, crackle glaze & metallic acrylic paint I was able to completely transform it.

I decided to use some Amazing Casting Resin to create the Owl using an Amazing Mold Putty mold I created for a previous project...Oooo I can see it coming along nicely.
I used the black Gesso & Crackle Glaze in it as well as some Gold Leaf Flakes & the Metallic Acrylic Paint & WOW did it transform this thrift store frame!
I can't wait to hang it in my Craft Studio! I do have a love for all things metallic...lol.

What kinds of thrift store finds could you alter with Amazing Casting Resin?
Please share them on the user GALLERY on the Amazing Crafting Products Website!

Well thank you so much for joining me today with Amazing Casting Products...Till Next Time!

Playing in the Sunshine

It's been wonderful weather here for the last week with Temps in the upper 70's, like a Vacation for this Texas girl. So I've finished re-organizing my studio(sorry I didn't take any before photos...lol) & I'm trying to get my mojo going again. I'll share with you a few of the pendant I made over the past few weeks...I'm sooo in Love with these...

I've always been inspired by vintage Foil Etched Artwork & I think these are so fun! Each one is my own Artwork under resin & backed with foil all in a polymer clay frame...miniature Artworks!

I want to thank you all again for checking out my post...Till Next Time!

The Beauty of a Sunset!

Hi it's Lyn again, here to day with a super fun & oh so beautiful project for you. First let me tell you a little about my inspiration...I dream of warm Summer nights...lol. I'm not a big fan of Winter but I can at least dream of Summer Sunsets.

First of all I made a mold with Amazing Mold Rubber of a couple of small flat glass stones & then filled it with Amazing Clear Cast Resin & let it cure overnight.
After I removed the resin pieces from the mold I used an Alcohol Marker & drew an image on the back side of the resin.Be aware the your image will be reversed so draw accordingly. Be sure to let this part dry completely before proceeding.
I added a bit of color with the Alcohol Markers, careful to avoid the black outline. Let this layer dry. Then add a coat of clear sealer to the image side, careful to use as few strokes as you can so as not to smear the image.
Ahhhh now we're starting to feel the warmth! At this point I was inspired by some vintage artwork hanging in my home. Foil Etched Artwork which is something you should really see in person to get the full effect. So I decided to add some Gold Metallic leaf to the back side with another layer of sealer as a glue. Since the Alcohol Markers are transparent it allows the foil to show through to the front side of the resin.

It's really pretty at this point but the metallic leafing on the back will need to either be sealed or...make a bezel out of polymer clay(my specialty...lol). I chose a large tree to complete the look & feel of a Warm Texas Summer Sunset.
So What's Your Favorite Season?

I want to thank you all once again for joining me here today...Till Next Time!

Family Traditions Santa Hat Pins

Happy Holidays & family Traditions go hand in hand & my family is no different. Lyn Gill here again to share some of my families traditions with all of you. 40+ years ago my grandfather started this tradition where he would carve wooden pins/brooches or pendants for all of us. He was a wonderful woodcarver. It is a tradition I've felt compelled to continue.
So this year I chose Santa Hat pins for everyone. I created the original from Sculpey clay & them made an Amazing Mold Rubber mold of it. Then the sky was the limit & I had so much fun combining colors, finishes & glitters to make the fun pins.
I used Amazing Casting Resin, Amazing Clear Cast, Alumilite Dyes, Alumilite Metallic Powders & some craft glitters from my own stash to create these Santa Hats for my Family.

So what are some of your favorite family traditions?

Thanks so much for stopping by...Till Next Time,
from our family to your Happy Holidays!

Combining Mediums & Thinking about the New Year

I've been doing quite a bit of my work lately combining Resin & Polymer Clay. After some trial & error I've really come to enjoy this process. It slows me down considerably & that's a good thing. It actually gives me time to work on more projects at one time, which is the way I prefer to work. For this post I only have a few projects to share...
First is the lovely milky white face with a resin geode that I molded from an Amethyst geode piece from my collection. It has iridescent faux snowflakes for some sparkle in the resin. Her earrings & crown are Amethyst nuggets.
Next is my Favorite...because of the beach/ocean theme of it. The sea turtle is resin with some gold metal flakes & she has a crown of turquoise.
This pendant has the Swellegant Sapphire Sky Patina on the brass metal coating & the same geode mold resin piece with iridescent flakes. Her face is framed by 2 feathers in silver metal coating with the darkening patina. I always enjoy working with the Swellegant line...awesome product!
On this final pendant I tried something a little different, a bit of a softer look. This one is all polymer clay but still just as beautiful. The roses are from a mold & the finish is Swellegant Silver metal coating with darkening patine & several of the dye oxide colors. She has a Garnet crown & a beautiful CZ in her rose bouquet.
These are more of the type of project I want to bring for the new year. Along with some more mixed media, Altered boxes & bottles, maybe even some art journaling! Thank you so much for spending time with me today during this busy time of year & join me tomorrow for a DT project for Amazing Casting Products...Till Next Time!
