Summer is finally here!

Walking on the beach, smelling the salty see air that's what I dream about.

Well, that's what I thought too...lol. That was then this is now. 

Anyway...it's getting cooler, Halloween is now over and now it's time to get back to it.

Just a few photos of the process, sorry I didn't film it.

Ho Ho Happy Holidays!

Ho Ho Happy Holiday's!!! Hi everyone, I'm back once again and this time with a fun futuristic Alien Planet Pendant, this time in Black and Purple with a Purple Rhinestone in the Dangle.

And then in Brown and White with Opals in the Dangle...

And then in Granite and Green with a Smokey Topaz in the Dangle...

Three colors using the same technique. Different colors of clay, different texturing effects...different results! I've created a video on how I created this effect too!

"The Royal Jewel Box" Mixed Media Altered Box

So Spring is in the air and I got some creatin' to do! I love the warm weather it's no secret but Spring in Texas usually comes with it's ups and down as far as the temp goes. This year has been an exceptionally warm Spring. I feel so blessed so I think I'll take advantage of the warm Spring and just create!



OK so I wanted to keep this cigar box with just the modeling paste through the stencil but I did have a plan in mind.

                   TCW Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste through the Prima Demask Stencil

                                    Once dry I gave it a coat of black Gesso. Then let that dry.

OK I know you can't tell but I added the embellishments with are Amazing Casting Resin in a couple of Prima and IOD Molds. Then gave them a coat of black Gesso as well.

Then the magic happens...Prima Finnabair Acrylic Paints! Now I'm not too sure what colors I used but I do know Emerald Green and Ancient Coin were among the colors.

Once dry I antiqued the whole thing with some black acrylic wash.

After adding the colors I added a coat of spray sealer just to give it a little Gloss. I love it! It's just like the picture in my mind! Royal! So I had to add some patterned paper to the inside and it's finished!

Happy Halloween Altered Cardboard Coffin

After a couple of health scares and some time off I'm finally back! So I needed a little Halloween fun...lol...an Altered Cardboard Coffin from the Dollar Store, some IOD Molds, Prima Waxes and Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays.

The first thing before I forget...Lightly sand the glossy surface of the coffin. It's so glossy even the gesso has trouble holding on if you don't give it a light sand. I started with some scraps of mail from the trash that I DecouPaged(I use the Matte) down. Only on the back to try and minimize the amount on the surface. The with a Tim Holtz Brick Stencil and some TCW Molding Paste I added some texture here and there.

Couple of coats of black grsso...oh and I used the Spider Web Stencil around the base of the Coffin.

I then came up with something I liked using the Resin pieces I cast from the IOD Molds and glued them down using #D Matte Gel. Then I when around the edges of the resin with Graphite Paste also by Prima.

and then...more gesso...

To finish...a couple squirts of the Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays in Witch's Potion Purple and Screamin' Banshee Black. Then just touch the edges with some of the Prima Finnabair Waxes in the Old Silver, Amethyst Magic and Mystic Turquoise. It's finished!
A Gothic Style Altered Cardboard Coffin to decorate your table and store candy or other goodies in.

Creativity Art Journal Page using Twinkling H2Os

Hi everyone, Lyn here again on the ColourArte Blog this week. This time with an Art Journal page using Twinkling H2Os.

I started out with a simple sketch.

That I then outlined the sketch using my Hot Glue Gun.

Then I gessoed over the whole page.

Now for some fun! Using Twinkling H2Os spritzed with a bit of water to activate…Ice, Vavoom Red and Sea Spray…I carefully painted the background, the flowers and leaves.

Then I went over the Hot Glue lines with a silver marker.

Then I added a border around the page with a Black Fude Ball pen.

I then added a quote “Creativity Blooms in the Garden of the Soul” to finish off the page.

It really reminds me that it’s Spring at last!

Holiday Birdhouse Pendants

Happy Holidays everyone, Lyn here again with a bit of Christmas inspiration...a cute little Winter Birdhouse Charm made with Amazing Casting Resin.

Using Amazing Casting Resin, Alumilite Dye(Red), some Acrylic Paint, Snow Tex(available at most craft stores) and some beads and a Christmas Tree Charm I created these tiny Birdhouse Charms just in time for the Holidays.

                             How cute are they? They'll be perfect Holiday gifts for loved ones!

"Whale Song" Resin Pour Wall Art

Hi everyone Lyn here from LynzCraftz, It's no secret that I love Summer, the Ocean, the Beach, the sound of the waves & the salty sea air so before Summer ends I thought I would get in one last Summer project. I've named it "Whale Song" for obvious reasons...

I first started with a polymer clay whale that I sculpted from Super Sculpey(baked according to package directions) I left it flat on the back so I could glue it down to my mold form & then I used Amazing Mold Rubber to create the mold. It's a 1-2-1 ratio so it's easy to mix & use. After the Amazing Mold Rubber cured & I removed the original it was time to pour some clear blue resin whales using Amazing Clear Cast & Alumilite Dye I mixed up & let them cure. Aren't they cute?

Then using a wooden canvas I had purchased, I painted it with some acrylic paints. Just a basic underwater type background which will get mostly cover up.

Here comes the fun part...I mixed up some Amazing Clear Cast & then divided it into 5 small cups, adding Alumilite Dust to each cup in similar colors to the background in 4 of them in the 5th one I added a bit of Alumilite Dye in White. Carefully pouring each of the 4 colors in their corresponding color area(kinda like a paint by number...lol) & using the stir stick to help move the colors around. I then layed the cure whales into the cure resin on the background & left it to cure for 3-4 hours before continuing.

The final step was to mix just a touch(the tip of my pallet knife) of the Alumilite Metalic Powder in Pearl to another batch of Amazing Clear Cast Resin & pour over the entire piece whales & all.

After letting it cure overnight the results are well...Amazing! You can see the sparkle from the tiny bit of Pearl that I added to the final layer of resin...so pretty! A little bit of work but well worth it in the end.
